The Challenge

Tri-State Windows, Siding & Roofing is a regional home improvement company. Looking for guidance on how to update their brand and connect with their target audiences in a more creative way, TAG was tasked with developing a brand message that engages their customers, and keeps Tri-State top-of-mind. 

Our Approach

What better way to reach customers in a memorable way than to enlist a fun-loving, furry friend, who also happens to be an expert at replacing windows, siding and roofing? To create a memorable customer experience, an animated squirrel named “Hank” was designed and developed to be Tri-State’s Brand Ambassador. Hank was animated for TV, appears in print advertisements and has even made special appearances as a life-size mascot at community events. Other supportive graphic elements representative of the products and textures found in Tri-State’s industry work together with Hank’s appearance to deliver an innovative brand message. 

The Results

Tri-State wanted an "out-of-the-box" website that set them apart from their competitors. TAG delivered a site that opened the doors to a new mobile responsive audience.

In the business of home repair, TAG saw an opportunity to turn a rolling billboard in to a rolling house (that had just received new windows, siding and roofing from Tri-State, of course!) The actual exit door of the bus doubles as the home’s front door, and showcases Hank proudly putting the finishing touches on his newest roofing project. This bus was an eye-catching sight to see coming down the road!

Character Development

The TAG team had fun creating Hank the Squirrel. From artist sketches, to 3D renderings and voice texturing, every aspect of this project was a rewarding team experience. Our goal was to create a likeable and bubbly—yet gentle—character to represent Tri-State. The TAG team was very satisfied to have brought this little guy to life!

TAG designed and developed Tri-State's original website but with changes in technology and market competition, both the client and TAG knew it was time for a change. Tri-State wanted an "out-of-the-box" website that set them apart from their competitors. TAG delivered.

Hank the Squirrel was having so much fun on TV and in print, we thought it was about time to bring him into the real world. TAG orchestrated the production of a life-size mascot costume for use at various community events as well as trade shows. The mascot has connected with audiences on a whole new level and literally brought Hank the Squirrel to life.

TAG took the character of Hank the Squirrel and developed a blog platform where Hank could deliver engaging content to readers about the home improvement industry. Each month, new content is populated on the blog, showcasing the work that Tri-State does—all while engaging readers with the information they need to know about important home improvement projects. Due to the effective strategy behind the blog, Hank on Homes continues to serve as the number one source of referral traffic back to Tri-State’s website.

In an industry where customer leads are essential, TAG created a Facebook strategy that helped Tri-State collect data and leads for business growth. Through quarterly Facebook contesting, Tri-State was able to grow their lead database, segmented by the services customers were interested in—windows, siding, roofing or blown-in insulation. TAG also used Facebook as a platform to drive traffic back to the free estimates form on the Tri-State website, helping to bolster lead growth from month to month.

TV Campaigns

After creating our character, Hank, we created a series of spots combining animation and real-life footage.  This is one of Hank's solo spots.  By the way, did you know there are over 500,000 hairs on Hank's body?  Now you do!
